Walmart could face a MAGA boycott after White House Special Advisor Kari Lake called out the chain’s heiress, Christy Walton, for paying for a full-page, anti-Trump “No Kings” protest advertisement in the New York Times.

The ad in Sunday’s edition of The Times by the No Kings movement, a grassroots political campaign that accuses President Donald Trump of attacking civil rights, urged Americans to “mobilize” and protest on June 14, the same day Trump is staging a military parade in Washington. The ad lists the movement’s eight principles, including support for veterans, children, and democratic values.

“The honor, dignity, and integrity of our country are not for sale,” it reads, noting the views are those of Walton.

The website, linked to the ad by QR code, promises there will be more than 1,800 coordinated non-violent protests across the country, showing a map of where.

Reacting to the ad, Lake took to X on Tuesday to ask followers: “Do you shop at Walmart?”

Though Walton holds an estimated $19.3 billion fortune and retains a 1.9% stake in Walmart, the company was quick to distance itself.

Speaking with Forbes, Walmart spokesperson Joe Pennington said: “The advertisement from Christy Walton [is] in no way connected to or endorsed by Walmart.”

He added that she has no active role in company decisions.
