‘We Don’t Know Sh*t, Ben!’ Bill Maher Accuses Ben Shapiro Of Jumping to Conclusions On Kirk Shooter in Heated Debate
Bill Maher cut off conservative commentator Ben Shapiro as the Daily Wire founder tried to speculate on the shooter’s political motives for assassinating Charlie Kirk.
Shapiro told HBO’s Real Time With Bill Maher Saturday night, “The reality is, that as someone who receives an inordinate amount of death threats — and I know the kind of death threats Charlie was getting — and you can break down the death threats and where they are coming from.”
Shapiro continued, “If we are not politically correct, then we understand if there’s a shooting at a synagogue, it’s very likely to be either a white supremacist or a radical Muslim. If it’s the shooting of a Republican politician, then it’s very likely to be a trans, ANTIFA, Marxist shooting.”
“That is just not true! We don’t know what this kid is,” Maher exclaimed.
SHAPIRO: We do know this kid was of the political left. That was in the contemporaneous reporting from The Guardian, as well as Tabloid Magazine today.
MAHER: It’s two days out. We don’t know shit, Ben! We don’t know shit. They never do. The internet is undefeated in getting it wrong to begin with.
SHAPIRO: It’s not about the Internet. It’s about the actual reporting by mainstream — except The Guardian is not right-wing media.
MAHER: Here’s what I was told so far, and I’ll tell you what is wrong. First, I heard he’s a registered Republican. Not true. Then he was a donor to Trump. Not true. His father works in the sheriff’s office. Not true. There was a picture of him wearing a pro-Trump shirt. Not true. A member of the Democratic Socialists of America. Not true. We don’t know what he is. How are you so sure he’s of the left? Now, I agree when you write on a bullet…
SHAPIRO: “Catch this, fascist,” which is also a gamer thing.
MAHER: All right, Now I’m hearing he may have been part of that group for whom Charlie Kirk was not right-wing enough.
SHAPIRO: You mean the groypers. Yes.
MAHER: But you’re sure he’s not that?
SHAPIRO: I’m not sure he’s not that.
MAHER: Oh. A minute ago you were sure what he was. You were.
The “groypers” are an alt-right, white nationalist group led by Nick Fuentes — Holocaust-denier and 2022 dinner guest of President Donald Trump, who has since begun become increasingly critical of the president.
Fuentes called Kirk’s murder a “very delicate situation” and told his followers that if they turn to violence as a chain reaction, he will “disavow” and “disown” them.
