‘Worst Two Years of Donald Trump’s Life’: John Bolton ‘Worried’ GOP Has Already Lost Midterms
President Donald Trump could be in for “the worst two years” of his life if Republicans lose the House and the Senate in the midterms, said former Trump National Security Advisor John Bolton Tuesday.
That’s also true “even if the Democrats just flipped the House, which I think most people think is certain,” he told Maddie Hale on The Trump Report. “The Senate is unclear at this point, but the Democrats have a shot at it, and it’s going to be unrelenting pressure by the Democrats against all aspects of Trump’s presidency.”
To make matters worse, Trump “doesn’t seem to be able to focus on that, either,” Bolton continued.
A Democratic-controlled House of Representatives would “almost certainly launch a wave of investigations and hearings” detrimental to the Trump administration.
“I do think that they will try across the board. Every committee in the House within its area of jurisdiction will be holding hearings,” Bolton said. “You can see that coming. I think the one issue that isn’t sort of inside the Beltway politics, the one issue that will cut through to Americans is corruption. I think everybody understands that. I think the evidence is open and notorious of what Trump and his family and others in the administration have done.”
Predictions for this year’s midterms have been mixed. Last week, a handful of election experts and analysts predicted Democrats will take over the House this fall, but were less certain about the Senate. Carlos Odio, the founder of Equis Research, warned against expectations of any kind of “blue wave.”
“All signs point to a Democratic House majority. But there is a drag on Democrats keeping them from a larger tsunami,” Odio told The New York Times.
But a poll published by the Washington Post this week suggested Republicans are cutting into Democratic leads.
