‘Wow!’ Amy Klobuchar Stunned After Crowd Laughs At Her Claim She’s Strong on the Border
Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) drew unexpected laughs from a crowd at Wednesday’s Minnesota Farmfest after she claimed to have “supported funding for order at the border” for years.
“Wow,” a visibly surprised Klobuchar answered the laughter.
She added:
I ran the largest prosecutor’s office in the state and was endorsed by police many, many times. So don’t. Number two, none of my opponents on this stage condemned what ICE did. Not a word. Not a word. Two innocent people were killed, shot in the back. We had many people arrested when they weren’t supposed to be arrested, and we all know that. And we need reform to ICE. We must have reform.
Klobuchar is one of several candidates running for governor in the state. Other candidates include Rep. Lisa Demuth (R), MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, and TakeCharge President Kendall Qualls.
The Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association endorsed Klobuchar’s bid for reelection to the Senate in 2024. “MPPOA is proud to endorse Senator Klobuchar for re-election and recognize her work supporting safer communities and supporting law enforcement,” said MPPOA Board President David Titus in a statement at the time. “She’s consistently promoted public safety proposals that keep communities and public safety officials safe.”
During her Senate race in 2006, Klobuchar said at a debate, “I do believe that we need more resources at the border and that includes a fence. We have people waiting to come in legally, thousands of people waiting to come in legally to this country and we have people coming in illegally – that’s not right. We need to get order at the border.”
“We also have to stop giving amnesty to companies that are hiring illegal immigrants. Under this administration the number of prosecutions of companies has gone way down – that has to change,” she continued. “Finally, I believe we need to give people who have been in this country for a number of years, who are willing to pay their taxes, who are willing to learn English, who are willing to pay the fines the chance for earned citizenship.”
