‘Chuckster, We’re Live!’ Inside The NBA Set Sent Into Hysterics After Barkley’s ‘Coming’ Comment
Inside The NBA has been on TV sets for over 30 years and one of the big reasons why is the crew’s ability to let loose and go a bit off the rails at times. Wednesday night was no different as the veteran cast, pushing 1 a.m local time, broke out in laughter after Charles Barkley worded a transition horribly wrong.
Shaquille O’Neal and Ernie Johnson were telling a story about some hijinks involving Top Ramen when Barkley decided to intervene.
“I could see that coming from that camera angle, I was like ‘oh no man’,” Johnson said.
“Speaking of coming,” Barkley jumped in, stunning the whole crew.
“Whoa, timeout,” Kenny Smith said laughing as Chuck realized what he said.
The set broke into chaos for the next 20 seconds with Shaq shedding tears on the other side of the panel.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I will call it myself,” Smith said.
“Chuckster we’re live,” Johnson exclaimed. “Not like we can stop him.”
“That’s not what I meant, see y’all minds in the gutter,” Barkley said laughing himself.
Barkley continued on however, explaining that the reason for his ill-worded transition was to highlight his moderator’s hidden talent: rapping all the words to “Guns and Ships” off the Hamilton soundtrack.
“Hit it fellas,” Barkley shouted as a snippet of Ernie Johnson rapping along graced the screen.
“Eminem and MGK we coming after you,” Shaq said about Johnson’s performance. “We got a mixtape coming out.”
“I got addicted to that sound track,” Ernie said.
