Pat McAfee Reacts to Reports Urban Meyer Could Return to Fox: Avoid Dance Floors

Some good news, for once, for former head coach Urban Meyer after reports surfaced on social media this week that he may be heading back to Fox Sports to join the crew of Big Noon Kickoff. Pat McAfee and the crew were all in for the idea on Wednesday, with the exception of a few questions to ask and few stipulations to add to his contract.

“Urban, should you really have gone to the dance floor or is it maybe you shouldn’t have fingergunned someone,” McAfee asked on the show.

The incidents McAfee is referring to is the infamous night out for Meyer in Jacksonville last season when video surfaced of the former head coach dancing and groping a young woman, who was not his wife. The incident spearheaded the eventual demise of his coaching career with the Jaguars, who released him prior to the end of the 2021 regular season. A way around that, according to McAfee, is to put it into his next contract.

β€œNo dance floors,” McAfee stated during his show Wednesday. β€œWe’ll pay you this, you gotta do this, show up do this, break this film down, give us the three things for everything…and then all of a sudden no dance floors on these college campuses.”

The show host also acknowledged how Meyer never took full responsibility for the incident, blaming it on the rhythm and beat of Florida, as a reason to include such stipulations.

Urban Meyer did blame the dancefloor and not himself for that entire thing,” McAfee said.

While I don’t think that’ll stop Fox from rehiring the long-time college coach, given their reputation for hiring questionable sports figures, the ideas aren’t bad and might help Urban control himself from any future transgressions.
