CNN Calls Out Trump’s Patriot Games for Being ‘Overwhelmingly White’

CNN ran an “analysis” of President Donald Trump’s Patriot Games and found something absolutely jarring: The athletes highlighted by the event on social media were “overwhelmingly white.”

Host Audie Cornish on Wednesday filled viewers in on the apparent racial and religious background of the youth athletic event — which was hosted by the Freedom 250 task force and featured one male and one female teenager from each state — on CNN This Morning.

“Two winners now crowned in President Trump’s Patriot Games. The president promised the best of the best student athletes,” Cornish said. “I’m not sure that’s what we got.”

She added, “A CNN analysis actually found that a specific demographic of kids got a shot to compete. Of the ones who were featured in the Freedom 250 Instagram page, many attend private Christian schools. They also appear to be overwhelmingly white, and the application for the games didn’t specify race.”

Cornish did not report how CNN analyzed the racial features of the athletes.

The show then rolled a handful of people ripping the event on social media.

“These are supposedly the best athletes from every state in the country, and they all happen to be white? I don’t know about that,” one white female TikTokker said.

Another white guy on TikTok vented that Trump was hosting “The Dystopian Hunger Games.”

The inaugural Patriot Games wrapped up with Trump in attendance on Tuesday, alongside ESPN star Pat McAfee.

Trump presented $125,000 scholarships and trophies to two winners, Kennadi Fuhrman of Kansas and Rockwell Myers of Utah at the event, which was for student-athletes between ages 14 and 17.

The Akron Beacon Journal reported, “The crowd chanted ‘USA,’ while individuals yelled ‘I love you, Mr. President’ and ‘2028!’ throughout the night. Trump often smiled. In some cases, he could be seen visibly saying thank you. Trump and other notables sat in front of about 112 teen athletes who wore medals around their necks.”
