Fox’s Larry Kudlow Goes Off On DSA Leader’s Parent-Bought Luxury Home: ‘Saved His Downwardly Mobile A**’

Fox Business hosts Larry Kudlow and Dagen McDowell went off on the co-chair of New York City’s Democratic Socialists of America, Gustavo Gordillo, on Wednesday, following reports that he lives in a $1.5 million apartment paid for by his father.

In a conversation about affordability, McDowell added, “I’ll never forget when the Democrats shut down the Keystone Pipeline, and they always dismissed those jobs as being temporary jobs. And it’s union work! So who do they stand for if they don’t stand for work, jobs, and the unions?”

“Because that, and these data centers—there are a lot, there are permanent jobs in these data centers. It’s full-time work: HVAC, electricians, in a community they are… I would choose—” McDowell said.

“They fix the water stuff, you know, so they circulate the water, they figure out how to bring their own power. These companies—I mean, it’s fabulous, they’re giving it to you cheap, for heaven’s sake,” Kudlow added.

“They’ll ultimately be selling that power into the community and lowering electricity prices. I would trade a data center all day long over a solar farm taking up somebody’s land where I grew up. But I laughed—Brian brought this up earlier today in a text chain we were doing. This guy, Larry—I know you read this quickly—this DSA leader Gordillo in New York, who thinks that double-digit returns should be illegal, or it’s unconstitutional to earn a double-digit return as a landlord. Isn’t that what he said in an interview?” McDowell said, pivoting to Gordillo.

“Got a nice house, got a beautiful house,” Kudlow quipped as the other co-hosts laughed.

“He lives in a one and a half,” McDowell said as Kudlow cut in, “A buck and a half—a buck and a half—his parents did it up for him.”

“Right, so it’s a million… it’s… it’s a—’ McDowell continued as Kudlow joked, “Saved his—saved his downwardly mobile a**, sorry.”

“Well, so he lives in a one-and-a-half-million-dollar home that he lives in—it was bought by his daddy, who’s a millionaire, who’s an immigrant, I believe from Peru, who came here and started a business and is exceedingly successful, has a couple of seven-figure homes down in Florida, and bought this place out in Bed-Stuy. And it’s beautiful, and it’s been completely renovated,” McDowell said.
“Got a nice porch—you see the lovely porch? Love that, it’s very Southern antebellum, you know what I’m talking about. Lovely landscape. Yes, ma’am!” McDowell said.

“This guy went to Yale,” she added as Kudlow joked, “Of course.”

“Went to Yale, studied art. Got out, worked in an art gallery, propped up by his parents apparently, but then changed course and joined the electrician’s union and, I believe, tried to become an electrician. It’s murky as to whether he ever finished his apprenticeship to fully become an electrician. Yeah, yeah. So, I’m joking—this is satire, sarcasm. ‘I’m not very good at selling art, so I’m gonna become a professional socialist. But I have to be a working man, and so I am going to cosplay an electrician,’” McDowell concluded as her co-hosts chuckled.
