Fox’s Outnumbered Debates Democrats’ ‘Thirst Trap Era’: ‘I’m Told Mamdani Is Really Good Looking’

The hosts of Fox News’ Outnumbered tackled the Democratic Party’s “thirst trap era” on Wednesday with plenty of cracks about candidates and also a recommendation from one host that Republicans take a page from Democrats’ current playbook.

Kayleigh McEnany led a segment on Outnumbered covering an Axios report highlighting Democrats and their “thirst trap era.” The report focused on younger candidates’ use of social media like TikTok and their deployment of “sex appeal” not typically seen from politicians.

Former President Barack Obama, Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA), Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed (D), New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D), former First Lady Michelle Obama, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) were identified in the report as some of the Democrats given the “thirst trap treatment” on social media.

The report reads:

The party’s main TikTok page has given big names the thirst trap treatment, including: Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) (nicknamed “Senator My Boo” by internet fans), Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed in his tight-fitting T-shirts, a grinning NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani and former President Obama with a touch of gray, among others.

The ladies — like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Michelle Obama — have gotten their share of screen time too, though Weinstein notes the Dems’ page has made a “very intentional choice to feature the most attractive male members.”

McEnany was joined on Outnumbered by Harris Faulkner, Emily Campagno, Todd Piro, and Ainsley Earhardt to break down this “thirst trap” phenomenon.

“In a generation we have gone from which politician do you wanna have a beer with to which politician do you want to hook up with,” Piro said.

He argued the attention to physical appearance, performance, and social media content shows the “vacuousness” of Democratic policies.

“When you dig deeper into these policies, free is not free. Free is tough. So I think there’s a deeper meaning here,” Piro said.

“Socialism not withstanding, I’m told Mamdani is really good looking in person, Emily,” McEnany said with a laugh, earning a groan from Campagno.

Campagno joked, “This is the party that said going to the gym was toxic.”

Earhardt jumped in to make the argument that Republicans may need to be taking some notes and bring in some “younger” candidates.

She said:

El-Sayed peaks out in these tight t-shirts, you have AOC with her pretty smile, she’s beautiful, she’s got the red lipstick, you have, who else? You have Mamdani always smiling, always seemingly positive, but it doesn’t make their philosophy any less dangerous You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig. You can put them all over TikTok. You can then put them all Instagram and all over Facebook, whatever their platforms are, but socialism always fails, even with lipstick on, even with a tight t-shirt, it’s socialism and it fails. And they wanna take everybody’s money and make everyone equal. And in every country where they have tried to do this, it has failed and the countries have gone downhill. And in fact, this is coming to America. I never listened to Hasan Piker until this week and I logged on and I listened to one of his shows and he’s like, “everyone’s so upset that Francesca Hong lost. Oh no, she got very close to winning. We should all be celebrating because we’re getting closer and closer and closer.” And that’s what they’re doing. Republicans need to take a page out of their book and go younger and do what they are doing. Get all over TikTok.

“It just looks like they’re out of ideas,” Harris Faulkner joked. “I personally don’t mind a good aesthetic. So I’m bifurcated on this issue of whether or not they want to show up and look good — why not? But can you do both? Can you lead and also look good?”

McEnany joked the only one who meets her standard of looking good and leading for Democrats is Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA).

“Only John Fetterman who has ditched his hoodie for whatever reason,” she said.
