‘He’s Been Slapped Down!’ Jeanine Pirro Celebrates Supreme Court Rejecting ‘Not So Smart’ Jack Smith’s Immunity Petition

Fox News host Judge Jeanine Pirro celebrated the Supreme Court’s decision to reject Special Counsel Jack Smith’s immunity petition in former President Donald Trump’s DC criminal case.

On Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected Smith’s request to expedite the appeal regarding Trump’s presidential immunity argument. In his DC criminal case, Trump is arguing that he is immune from prosecution because his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election occurred while he was president. No president has ever sought immunity from criminal prosecution before as no former president has even been indicted, a ruling in his favor would have far-reaching implications and leave the presidency unrestrained from the rule of law.

The Supreme Court’s decision will likely delay the trial by sending the immunity appeal back to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. Smith asked the Supreme Court to bypass the circuit court in order to move closer to a trial date before the 2024 election.

Pirro reacted with glee on a Friday airing of The Five, slamming Smith for his arrogance while praising the Supreme Court.

“Well, it is good news for former President Donald Trump. And Jack Smith got a little slap down,” Pirro noted.

She added, “I’ve said this before, whether his arrogance is more absurd than his ignorance. The truth is for Jack Smith to assume that because he’s got a case that the Supreme Court should hear right away, that we should avoid due process and the regular process of appeals going to the appellate process, and that the United States Supreme Court should bend to his whims and his Trump derangement syndrome. He’s been slapped down and the Supreme Court basically said, we’re not getting involved in this. ”

The pro-Trump firebrand continued:

Make no mistake that now the issue of immunity will go from the district court where they are right now to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals and then possibly to the Supreme Court. So the trial that’s scheduled for March 4th is never going to start on March 4th because they’ve got litigation with the Circuit Court of Appeals. And, you know, the Supreme Court has is basically saying, look, we don’t want to be a part of this. We don’t want to be a part of any of this…So the Supreme Courts knows they’ve got to decide that soon. It is essential that they don’t want to get involved in the immunity issue. So it ignores to the benefit of the president and it makes Jack Smith look not so smart.

Judge Tanya Chutkan has temporarily halted proceedings for the appeals process to make a ruling on Trump’s criminal liability. The trial was originally set for March of next year.
