Karoline Leavitt Claims ‘Our Country Is Safer’ and ‘More Affordable’ Because of Trump
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News host Sean Hannity that because of President Donald Trump, “our country is safer” and “more affordable.”
The conversation came during a segment on Hannity, where the host was talking about the upcoming midterm elections and urging his viewers to vote because “your vote will be the only thing to stop this looming threat of communism and socialism in our country.”
Hannity welcomed Leavitt back to the show and was for her “general reaction” to Democratic candidates like Texas state Rep. James Talarico (D) and Abdul El-Sayed, who are the Democratic nominees for U.S. Senate in Texas and Michigan, respectively, and “this lunatic” that is replacing Graham Platner in the Maine Senate race who “is accused of throwing a water bottle at a woman and having a horrible temper.”
“Is this going to work for them?” asked Hannity.
Replied Leavitt:
Well, I don’t think so. And I certainly pray it does not. I believe that there are millions of Americans across this country who see these Democrats for who they are. These are radical extreme liberals, socialists, communists, whatever you want to call them, Sean.
What matters most is their extreme policy positions. This is no longer the Democrat party of JFK. Heck, this is not even the Democrat party of Barack Obama. This is a party that has been totally captivated by these far-left extreme liberals who support massively raising your taxes, who support abolishing your police, who support abolishing private prisons, who support opening — reopening — our southern border and our nation’s borders to illegal alien criminals all over the world. These are radical Democrats who support terrible policies across the board. Again, taking away your private property, abolishing the police, banning prisons, and allowing complete lawlessness and chaos across our country.
We had four years of that under Joe Biden. Thanks to President Trump and Republicans and common sense policies across the board, our country is safer, our country more affordable. We cannot allow these radical extreme far left liberals to take power. We have steady progress under President Trump right now. If these radical extreme liberals are given a chance at power here in Washington, D.C., they will try to obstruct this president and turn our country i to a communist hell hole with every extreme liberal policy that they’ve tried to implement.
The comment about the Maine Senate candidate who “is accused of throwing a water bottle at a woman” refers to Troy Jackson, the former Maine Senate President who replaced Platner after he suspended his campaign amid multiple accusations of sexual assault and misconduct from multiple ex-girlfriends and other scandals.
Jackson was accused in a Republican PAC ad of “hitting [a] female colleague.” PolitiFact and other media outlets examined the claim, and there was a 2021 incident where he argued with Maine State Sen. Heather Sanborn (D) and threw a water bottle. However, multiple eyewitnesses “said Jackson did not appear to be aiming at Sanborn when he threw the bottle,” described it as hitting “a desk” or “a wall” before falling to the floor, and “none of the accounts said the bottle hit her.”
The claim in the ad, Politifact noted, came from an article at The Daily Wire that was based on a social media post that was deleted because, the group posting wrote, it had been based on “unverified allegations.”
