‘Someone Needs To Say the Thing!’ CNN’s Lulu Garcia-Navarro Says Jon Ossoff Surging Because He’s ‘Pleasant To Look At’

CNN contributor Lulu Garcia-Navarro said that Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) is gaining popularity because he’s “pleasant to look at” during Tuesday’s edition of The Arena.

Ossoff has made headlines in recent days after criticizing President Donald Trump’s unusually close relationship with aide Natalie Harp during a Sunday campaign stop, prompting online fury from MAGA supporters and name-calling from the president.

“He golfs and trades stocks,” the Georgia senator said of Trump over the weekend. “See, he doesn’t want to do the job; he wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie to their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the Emir of Qatar.”

He doubled down in a Tuesday rally, calling the commander in chief a “draft-dodging crook president.”

In a segment focused on the attention generated by Ossoff’s recent comments and whether he might run for president in 2028, Garcia-Navarro told host Kasie Hunt and fellow panelists, “Can I also just say, for WAGs [wives and girlfriends] on Twitter, it’s not just what he’s saying — it’s what he looks like.”

Read a transcript of the continued exchange below:

GARCIA-NAVARRO: I mean, I hate to be the person that says that.

HUNT: Hey, someone needs to say that.

GARCIA-NAVARRO: Someone needs to say the thing!

DAVID CHALIAN: What does he look like?

GARCIA-NAVARRO: Well, I mean, people find him to be pleasant to look at, and they think that he looks charismatic, and they talk about him in this Kennedy-esque way.

GARCIA-NAVARRO [TO CHALIAN]: But he’s young, and he seems dynamic, and he’s got a young family. You know, it’s like if you’re trying to cast, you know, who would be good in this role for Democrats, he fits a lot of those bills. It’s not just, as you astutely note as a political analyst, all these things that he is saying. It’s also the package that surrounds that, I think, has Democrats more and more excited.

Notably, during a Monday MS NOW appearance, Ossoff insisted that he has “zero interest” in a 2028 presidential run.
