‘Those Lips, the Way They Move’: Trump Gushes Over His Press Secretary’s Looks

President Donald Trump offered unusual if not inappropriate praise for White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Friday by praising “that face” and “those lips.”

Leavitt, 27, is the youngest press secretary in White House history and has been a fierce defender of, and advocate for, the Trump administration.

Trump sat down with Newsmax’s Rob Finnerty for an interview after a tumultuous day that saw stocks slide after a poor July jobs report and downward revisions in job gains from May and June. The president responded by firing the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which compiles the jobs reports.

At the end of the interview, Finnerty asked Trump for his thoughts on Leavitt:

FINNERTY: Karoline Leavitt.

TRUMP: She’s become a star. It’s that face. It’s that brain. It’s those lips, the way they move. They move like she’s a machine gun. Is she in the room?

FINNERTY: She’s in the room.

TRUMP: She’s a star and she’s great. She’s a great person, actually. But she’s– I don’t think anybody has ever had a better press secretary than Karoline. She’s been amazing.

During Thursday’s White House press briefing, Leavitt offered the kind of over-the-top praise of Trump that has become typical among his press secretaries over two terms.

“This means President Trump has brokered, on average, about one peace deal or ceasefire per month during his six months in office,” she said. “It’s well past time that President Trump was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.”
