$80 Million F-35 Fighter Jet Incinerated in Huge Explosion After Spiraling Out of Control

An $80 million F-35 fighter jet was destroyed in an explosion on Tuesday after it crashed into Alaska’s Eielson Air Force Base.
In a video of the incident, the jet could be seen spiraling towards the runway before hitting the ground and incinerating in a large explosion.
The ejected pilot, unharmed, could be seen parachuting next to the explosion and landing in the snow.
In a statement, the 354th Fighter Wing’s public affairs office confirmed that “an aircraft incident occurred this afternoon resulting in significant aircraft damage at 12:49 p.m.”
“The impact site is known to be on base within the fence line of Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska,” the statement continued, adding that the pilot was “safe” and had been “transported to Bassett Army Hospital for further evaluation.”
The statement warned civilians against stopping on the highway adjacent to the base and taking photographs of the aftermath of the incident.
“Our people are our most important resource, and we are committed in ensuring their safety and security,” said 354th Fighter Wing Commander Col. Paul Townsend. “I can assure you the United States Air Force will conduct a thorough investigation in hopes to minimize the chances of such occurrences from happening again.”
The F-35 fighter jet is one of the most expensive fighter jets in the world, costing just over $80 million for one unit.
