McCormick Wins Senate Race In Pennsylvania, Increases GOP Majority
Republican David McCormick defeated Sen. Bob Casey (D) to become Pennsylvania’s next U.S. Senator after the razor-thin race was finally called by the AP on Thursday.
“David McCormick in Pennsylvania has just flipped Bob Casey seat. He is out. That means 53 Republicans will control the United States Senate. Not all the I’s dotted and T’s crossed, but it is looking like a Senate that will be not only very much helpful to Donald Trump when it comes to Supreme Court picks and key pieces of legislation, but even more so than many people thought. So the fourth seat flipped right now in the United States Senate. Still keeping an eye on the House of Representatives,” noted Fox News’s Neil Cavuto on Thursday.
Fox’s Chad Pergram reported on the state of play in the House, “Representatives is going to go just yet, but 53 Republican Senate seats, Republican Dave McCormick has defeated Democrat Bob Casey. There are now only two uncalled Senate races, Nevada and Arizona. Now, the House Republicans are optimistic they will keep their majority. In fact, it could be a majority similar to the one they have now, maybe 221 seats or more. It’s about the math. So that means they can’t lose more than a handful of members on key votes. The GOP won numerous swing districts.”
As of Thursday, Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-NV) was declared the winner in her race by the Decision Desk HQ, but other outlets like Fox had yet to call the race. In Arizona, Ruben Gallego also had held onto his lead over Kari Lake with much of the vote still uncounted.
