WATCH: Biden Calls Biz Leaders Amid Supply Chain Concerns, Promises a ‘Much Different Christmas This Year’

President Joe Biden worked the phones with CEOs from retail and shipping giants and promised Americans a “much different Christmas this year” in a new White House video designed to quell supply chain concerns — and sell the president’s newly-passed infrastructure bill.

On Tuesday, the White House released a short video entitled “President Biden on Supply Chains and the Holidays” that featured the president speaking directly to camera about the holiday season, subtly reminding people that his administration inherited supply chain problems, and extolling the infrastructure bill that passed in Congress last week.

“I know a lot of Americans are worried we’re not going to be enough stock on the shelves for Thanksgiving and for Christmas, or they can be able to get what you need because there’s was a short supply last year because of COVID and a range of other things,” Biden said in the video’s opening, boldly and openly naming “Christmas.”

Biden said “I just got off the phone with the largest retailers in America” over shots of him working the phones, speaking with the likes of Walmart CEO Doug McMillon, UPS CEO Carol Tomé, FedEx CEO Fred Smith, and Target CEO Brian Cornell.

“They all told me that things are really moving along,” Biden said, describing in general terms his efforts to speed up the supply chain.

“And the bottom line is all the folks I spoke with, not just the East Coast, but the West Coast, they just all are confident that things are gonna be much different Thanksgiving and a much different Christmas this year,” Biden said.

“You’re going to be able to get to the store, get to your plane, get to the outlets you’re looking for, get the products you need, the gifts you want,” Biden promised. “That’s what we’ve been working on.”

He concluded by extolling the infrastructure bill and its investment in supply chain systems.

The White House has said they expect President Biden to push the infrastructure bill during visits like the one he’ll be making to Baltimore on Wednesday, and in local interviews like the one he did with a Cincinnati TV station on Monday.
