WATCH: SNL Goes Hard After Biden in Blistering Cold Open, Skewers the Narrative That He’s ‘Incredible’ When He’s ‘Behind Closed Doors’

After focusing predominantly on former President Donald Trump in recent episodes, Saturday Night Live took on President Joe Biden and his allies in its latest cold open.

SNL kicked off its show Saturday with a sketch showing a number of Biden allies vouching for the president by insisting that he’s a “incredible” when he’s “behind closed doors.” One by one, the Biden surrogates tried to convince CNN’s Dana Bash (played by Heidi Gardner) that public perception of the president being too old for his job is totally off. And they did it with some completely over-the-top anecdotes.

“Behind closed doors, Joe is incredible,” said SNL’s Michael Longfellow (playing California Gov. Gavin Newsom). “Yesterday, we had a big meeting about the border, and he had such command. “He had charts, tables, powerpoints. He had an interactive AR display on the Apple Vision Pro he programmed himself. The software might be in beta, but the man? He’s an alpha.”

Karine Jean-Pierre (played by Ego Nwodim) then stopped by to praise Biden as “the most vigorous man I’ve ever known.

“Behind closed doors, he’s a whirlwind,” SNL’s Jean-Pierre said — before running down a Biden daily schedule which included a Soulcycle class and a push-up contest with the Joint Chiefs.

Finally, it was time to hear from the man himself, as Newsom FaceTimed President Biden (played by Mikey Day).

“Hold on, I’m just going to turn up the volume,” Biden said — fumbling around in search of the right button. “Just got to find the button. There we—”

The call abruptly cut off, as Biden hit the wrong button and hung up.
