Bill O’Reilly Responds to Megyn Kelly: Her Allegations Are ‘Incomprehensible’

Following a powerful Today monologue Monday in which Megyn Kelly blasted former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly, the ex-Factor host responded — saying that he is perplexed as to why Kelly is speaking out against him.

Appearing on The Glenn Beck Program Monday, O’Reilly told host Glenn Beck that Kelly never made a formal harassment allegation against him.

“She didn’t file a complaint,” O’Reilly said. “Not that I know of.”

O’Reilly then had Beck read a pair of thank you notes from Kelly on the air (included below via CNN Money’s Tom Kludt).

O’Reilly closed by expressing his bewilderment at Kelly’s comments.

“I never had any problem with Megyn Kelly,” O’Reilly said. He added. “I don’t know why Megyn Kelly is doing what she’s doing. I don’t know why…It is incomprehensible.”

UPDATE 1:57 p.m. ETMediaite has learned that the two notes read on-air by Beck were sent in 2009 — for Kelly’s baby shower, and 2012, after O’Reilly helped promote a book written by Kelly’s husband, Douglas Brunt.

In her memoir, Settle For More, Kelly wrote this passage discussing her “big break” appearing on the O’Reilly Factor.

Bill was generous with his time and advice. He was always happy to sit down with me and offer his opinion, and I considered him a friend

This account seems to match O’Reilly’s that the two did once enjoy a productive, professional relationship. O’Reilly, however, in his interview with Beck, did not specifically reference any cordial contact between the two near or after Nov. 15, 2016 — the day that Kelly sent an email to the co-presidents of Fox News complaining about O’Reilly’s behavior (an email she read in part on the air Monday morning).
