Brian Stelter: Close Friends Say Oprah ‘Actively Thinking’ About Running For President

According to Brian Stelter, she may actually be doing it.

The CNN reporter recently published an article about Oprah Winfrey’s potential presidential candidacy, in light of last night’s riveting Golden Globes speech.

He indicated that the talk show host was “actively thinking” about going for it.

After her extraordinary speech on Sunday night, it’s the big question of Monday morning: Is Oprah Winfrey interested in a presidential bid?

The answer is yes. According to two of Winfrey’s close friends who requested anonymity to speak freely, Winfrey is “actively thinking” about running for president in 2020.

Some of Winfrey’s confidants have been privately urging her to run, the sources said.

Stelter went out of his way to note that Winfrey had not made a decision yet, but did write that her mulling a presidential run predates last night’s speech by “several months.”

While Winfrey’s representatives did not respond to a request for comment, it must be noted that longtime partner Stedman Graham told the Los Angeles Times that a presidential bid remains a distinct possibility.

“It’s up to the people,” he said. “She would absolutely do it.”

Winfrey has no political experience but, in a world that features President Donald Trump, does anything like that even matter anymore?
