CBS Report: ‘Preliminary Indications Show That the Suspect(s) Was Targeting TSA Employees’

According to a CBS News report, the shooter or shooters at Terminal 3 at LAX may have been targeting Transportation Security Administration officials. “Preliminary indications show that the suspect(s) was targeting TSA employees,” read a report which cited CBS News senior correspondent John Miller.

At least one TSA employee was reportedly shot in the leg after the shooting incident began at approximately 9:20 a.m. PT. At least one shooter used a rifle to target victims.

“A large box of ammunition was also recovered on LAX property, Miller said,” CBS reports. “The LAPD Bomb Squad was on scene trying to clear any suspicious packages.”

UPDATE: CBS News reporter Charlie Kaye reports that the shooter may have been a disgruntled TSA agent.

“Source tells @CBSNews TSA agent who was shot at LAX has now died; the suspect is an off-duty TSA agent,” Kaye added in a follow up tweet.
