CNN’s Paul Begala Suggests on Live Television That the United States Should ‘Blow Up’ Russia

During the 2016 campaign, many in Trumpland issued ominous warnings about how Hillary Clinton’s tough Russia talk could lead the United States into conflict.
Now it looks like those warnings may have some merit.
During an appearance on CNN’s Anderson Cooper, key Clinton ally, Paul Begala warned darkly that far more severe measures needed to be taken against Russia for their meddling in the 2016 election.
“We were and are under attack by a hostile foreign power,” he said, “We should be debating how many sanctions we should place on Russia or whether we should blow up the KGB, GSU, or GRU. We should be retaliating massively” Those three agencies are all part of Russian intelligence (except the KGB which was replaced by the FSB after the fall of Communism)
In any case — Begala continued.
“If I was Trump supporter, I would want to retaliate massively because it has tainted his victory.”
In addition to his ties to camp Clinton, Begala has also been a CNN mainstay for years at one point co-hosting the famously doomed program Crossfire.
Putin and Clinton developed a famously frosty relationship after the failure of the Obama-Russia reset policy. The Russian autocrat blames Clinton for helping to coordinate the Ukrainian revolution which ousted Putin ally Viktor Yanukovych. He also blames her for supporting protesters in his own country during his contested election in 2012.
