Embattled EPA Chief Pruitt Apparently Couldn’t Even Keep Up Payments on $50 Condo Rental

The hits keep on coming for Environmental Protection Agency director Scott Pruitt.
In recent days, Pruitt has been under fire over a number of negative headlines regarding ethical issues. One story that has besieged the EPA chief centers on his $50-per-day rental of a Capitol Hill condo from a lobbyist. The revelation of the sweetheart deal has led to headaches for the Trump administration.
According to a new report by Politico, it appears that even though Pruitt was getting a nice apartment for a price way below market value when he stayed in DC, he couldn’t even keep up with those small payments. The former Oklahoma attorney general was apparently so slow playing his landlord — health care lobbyist Vicki Hart, wife of energy lobbyist J. Steven Hart — that she had to pester him for the money.
Meanwhile, there have been conflicting signals from the White House on how secure Pruitt’s footing is at the EPA and within the administration. Reports have stated that Chief of Staff John Kelly has told Pruitt he needs to stop the scandals. And Pruitt recently endured a disastrous Fox News interview in which he appeared indignant and unprepared for the questions Ed Henry would ask.
President Donald Trump, however, has publicly expressed his support for Pruitt, stating earlier today that Pruitt is doing a “great job.” On top of that, it was reported that Trump was floating the idea of replacing Attorney General Jeff Sessions as recently at this week.
