Face the Nation Corrects Tweet Saying Chris Christie Confirms Trump’s Not Under Investigation

The official Twitter account for CBS’s Face the Nation took a ton of heat early this morning for a tweet it sent out regarding New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s appearance today. Highlighting a portion of the interview in which Christie discussed the recent reports that indictments are forthcoming in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, a tweet was sent out that stated Christie confirmed President Donald Trump is not under investigation.

Just take a look at The Ratio of that tweet. as of publication, it has over 2,000 replies to it, compared to just 76 retweets and 147 likes. The consensus opinion was that there was no way Christie could confirm that and that Face the Nation was disseminating false information.

After getting absolutely dragged on Twitter, the account sent out this correction:

During his interview with Face the Nation host John Dickerson, Christie said that the “president is not under investigation,” claiming he knew that because “no one has told” Trump that he is.

In another interview today with CNN’s Jake Tapper, Christie made the same claim, but Tapper pushed back, asking the governor how he knew that. Christie would respond that the most recent news that had been received publicly was that Trump had been told he wasn’t under investigation.
