Here’s Two Members of Congress Covering Prince Songs

It’s Hump Day, so let’s talk about the connection between Prince and Congress. Today is the 30th anniversary of Purple Rain‘s release, and to commemorate the occasion two members of Congress posted Vines today of themselves showing their love for the Artist Formerly Known as The Artist Formally Known as Prince.

First, Minnesota Democrat Keith Ellison posted this Vine of him on guitar, singing a line (with a tiny lyrical change) from “Purple Rain.”

Not to be outdone, New York Democrat Joe Crowley responded with a Vine of his own, covering “Raspberry Beret” instead.

And while this all seems fun and humanizing, imagine 30 years from now when members of Congress share their own covers of “Blurred Lines.” *shudder*
