Hunter Biden Unloads on ‘F**king Jake Tapper’ for ‘Poor Journalism’ and Calling Him ‘Sc*mbag’

Former first son Hunter Biden unloaded on CNN anchor Jake Tapper over what he called “poor journalism” that included calling Biden a “scumbag” and what he felt was overly-personal vitriol in the Tapper–Alex Thompson-authored tome Original Sin.

Hunter Biden sat down for a rare three-hour-plus interview on Substack this week, during which Tapper’s name came up repeatedly. In one lengthy exchange, Hunter dismissed Tapper as “irrelevant” and criticized his “both-sides journalism.”

He also owned up to the “scumbaggery” that he is trying to put behind him in recovery, saying “I don’t live my life to impress Jake Tapper”:

HUNTER BIDEN: He has spent far too long kind of doing a what-about-ism journalism, a both-sides journalism in a way that I think has been really detrimental.

I know that he has some really, really, really personal things to say about me. I don’t know Jake well enough to make a judgment about him as a human being the way that he makes a judgment about me as a being.

And he says that I’m a scumbag and I my this and that and the other thing. And you know what? You can read my book about all my scumbaggery. I wrote all about it.

And addiction is a really, really, really ugly thing. Divorces are really, really, really ugly things. I don’t live my life to impress Jake Tapper, but I just think it’s really, really poor journalism.

I think that, you know–.

TOMMY CHRISTOPHER: Here’s why– look I haven’t– I’ve known Jake for quite a long time, since about 2009 and (Yeah) things are between me and him are a little strained– For the past couple of years, you know, like here on and off again. Sometimes he’s blocking me. Sometimes he’s talking to me.

He has always cared very much about being seen and I really think he was seen as this very credible Cronkite-like down the middle figure and uh… He really prizes his credibility.

And so you might– I think you saying that he’s irrelevant is probably you know the worst thing you can say and I don’t know if I would say it.

I would stay what shocked me– because I haven’t read the whole book yet– what shocked me was the way-, the non-stop way CNN just infomercialed that thing for an hour on his show every day and every other show that they put him on.

HUNTER BIDEN: Yeah, no, it was definitely an infomercial for his book, which I think they’re doing a lesser version of an infomercial for his book that somebody just told me came out now.

I think that, you know, I think Jake’s got to cool it on the chat GPT and maybe give it at least a four month period of time before he gives us another book.

TOMMY CHRISTOPHER: Wow!

HUNTER BIDEN: But the fact of the matter is, is that. When I say that he is irrelevant, I think that he is really relevant in a certain circle, in an echo chamber where he lives, in Washington, D.C.

You know, I mean, what if there’s 50 cable news shows for real? Okay. Yeah, there’s 50 cable new shows. Jake’s new show ranks about 35 or 40 out of 50. In an ecosphere in which– I don’t think people except for a certain age group get their news anymore.

That does not mean that Jake can’t be influential in the way that he is, you know, kind of ubiquitous and puts himself in the conversation.

But just, I don’t know many people that like Jake, okay? I really don’t. And I lived in D.C. for a very long time. And I’m sure you can say the same about me, but I really mean it.

I don’t know many of his colleagues that like him or that respect him. And so I may be wrong about, you know, individual ones. But I guess it’s really not worth my time.

TOMMY CHRISTOPHER: Yeah, no, I got you. I want to say this about him. He has always, it’s one of the things that surprised me so much about the way he went at your dad IS that I’ve known him, we’re not best friends, but I really have known him a long time and he’s got a sense of decency that is much stronger than I’ve seen in others.

And so the fact that your dad has such a decent guy, I was–, and I’m sure Jake will probably be the first to admit that. So– I would just say that about him.

Biden had a lot more to say about Tapper — which you can see via the Tommy Christopher Substack interview series, or on Mediaite later this week.
