Jimmy Kimmel Mocks Melania’s Cyberbullying Campaign By Comparing Her to Bill Cosby’s Wife
With the first lady announcing new plans for a White House cyberbullying intuitive this week, late night host Jimmy Kimmel mocked Melania Trump by saying her efforts against online abuse are almost like Bill Cosby’s wife fighting “Benadryl” use.
Kimmel went on a monologue about the issue in last night’s Live showing:
“Melania Trump has emerged from hiding — she hasn’t been seen much since Winter Stormy Daniels hit DC. But Melania’s back and planning to meet with representatives from Twitter, Facebook, Google, and others to lead the fight against online bullying. Apparently the word ‘irony’ doesn’t translate from Slovenian. All she has to do to fight cyberbullying is take a hammer to her husband’s thumbs and phone.”
He continued by invoking the name of the infamous comedian who used date-rape drugs to sexually assault dozens of women.
“Melania Trump holding a summit to stop cyberbullying is like Camille Cosby calling a meeting with Benadryl because ‘it’s making people woozy,'” Kimmel joked to an audience that reacted with a mix of laughter and cringing.
As for Melania herself, she announced plans to meet with social media and tech companies like Facebook, Twitter, and Google to push her cyberbullying efforts. Additionally, while speaking with the spouses of governors last month, she described her campaign as a push for “positive habits with social media and technology.”
“As I have said before, it is important that, as adults, we take the lead and the responsibility in helping our children manage the many issues they are facing today,” the first lady said. “This means encouraging positive habits with social media and technology, even limiting time online and understanding the content they are exposed to on a daily basis.”
