When President Barack Obama was on Jimmy Kimmel Live this week, he out-right denied claims that he has personally called Kanye West’s house. “I don’t think I’ve got his home number,” the president said. So of course, TMZ caught up with West to ask him who’s telling the truth.
“I love Obama,” West told reporters as he walked through LAX on his way back from Paris Fashion Week. “He called our house before, he knows that. Don’t try to pit us against each other.”
The two men have a long and sordid history, especially after Obama was caught on a hot mic calling West a “jackass” following his 2009 ambush of Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards. Four years later, during a radio interview, West accused Obama of “using” him and declared, “I’m not gonna mention him no more, I’m past that. That’s out of my thoughts; that’s lowering my priority of thinking at this point.”
TMZ also asked West about recent comments from Rush Limbaugh, who said of the racist chant from the University of Oklahoma’s SAE frat, “If this had been a song by Kim Kardashian‘s husband, and then sung this song at the Grammys, it’d be a hit.”
It appeared to be the first time West had heard about this particular story, so instead of firing back at Limbaugh, he just said he would check it out and let the reporter know next time he sees him.
