Liberal pundits rejoiced online after Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA) made a pointed jab at President Donald Trump’s relationship with close aide Natalie Harp, delighting in the political swipe and pondering whether the shot was a sign the Democrat is mulling a presidential run.

Ossoff, who is seeking another term in the Senate, was at a rally on Sunday when he name-dropped Harp while attacking Trump over the prolonged deployments faced by sailors and service members due to the Iran conflict.

“While the sailors on the Lincoln fight his war, while he fruitlessly drains our munitions and oil reserves, the president sleeps through his meetings,” Ossoff told supporters at a rally. “He golfs and trades stocks. See, he doesn’t want to do the job; he wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie to their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the Emir of Qatar.”

The reference to Harp quickly went viral and drew the attention of Trump critics who openly celebrated Ossoff’s willingness to publicly roast the relationship, while demanding newsrooms investigate:

Others saw the remark as a clever election play:

Ossoff’s dig comes as Harp’s profile came under increased scrutiny after her estranged brother, Preston Harp, publicly raised concerns about his sister’s closeness to the president in 2024.

He told The New York Times that he considered the relationship “very unhealthy.”

The Times reported at the time that Harp once wrote the president a note that declared, “You are all that matters to me.”
