Magician David Blaine Is Being Investigated For Rape, Scotland Yard Confirms to Press
Magician superstar David Blaine has been accused of rape.
The Daily Beast reports that Natasha Prince, a former model, alleges that Blaine raped her at a private home in London in the summer of 2004. She didn’t report the incident to the authorities until last fall.
Scotland Yard confirmed that they have launched an investigation.
“Officers from the Met’s Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command are investigating an allegation of rape,” Scotland Yard said in a statement. “The allegation was reported to police on 17 November 2016 by a woman who alleged she was raped at an address in Chelsea in June or July 2004 when she was aged 21. There have been no arrests at this stage and enquiries continue.”
According to emails shared by Prince, the authorities have reached out to Blaine in hopes to conduct an “interview under caution” in the UK.
Marty Singer, Blaine’s attorney, released a statement to The Daily Beast denying the allegation.
“My client vehemently denies that he raped or sexually assaulted any woman, ever, and he specifically denies raping a woman in 2004,” Singer stated. “If, in fact, there is any police investigation, my client will fully cooperate because he has nothing to hide.”
This comes as dozens of accusers have come forward with allegations against disgraced film mogul Harvey Weinstein that range from sexual harassment to rape. Scotland Yard has launched an investigation into Weinstein over several assault allegations that also took place in London.
