Tom Homan Admits to Dr. Phil That Democrats’ Anti-ICE Rhetoric Is Working: ‘They’re Putting a Dent in for Sure!’

Border Czar Tom Homan confessed that Democrats are “putting a dent in for sure” on public opinion of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents with their anti-ICE rhetoric Friday on The Dr. Phil Podcast. 

Dr. Phil McGraw asked Homan whether the attacks on ICE — reignited by two fatal shootings by agents this month in operations where neither victim was the intended target — are “purely just a political ploy” or if “there’s something more behind this,” also wondering how “morale” within the agency might be impacted.

“I think the left knows exactly what they’re doing,” Homan said. “The Democrats are trying to steal the narrative and make it a bad thing when it comes up to the midterms or the next election. So, they’re attacking — it’s all about attacking [President Donald] Trump and his legacy, and trying to turn the American people against his number one issue.”

He continued:

Hey, look — they’re making, they’re putting a dent in it for sure, because, uh, I’m reading a lot more stories about, you know, people’s opinion on ICE and what we’re doing, but the men and women of ICE are performing at the highest level ever. You know, Dr. Phil, we’re taking hits from both sides, too. We’ve got, you know, the hard, hard right saying we’re not arresting enough. The left says we’re arresting too many. So, I think ICE is doing just about the right thing.

On Sunday, Homan admitted to CNN that an officer connected to one of the fatal July shootings should not have “cleared vetting,” as it’s since come out that he was previously accused of abuse by two ex-wives.

He’s also continued to blame Democrats for the lack of funding for body cameras for ICE agents — no officer involved in either fatal shooting this month was wearing one — despite acknowledging the technology has already been bought.
