Maureen Dowd Reveals George H.W. Bush Called Trump a Curse Word, Threw His Shoe at TV When He Appeared

On Wednesday morning, President Donald Trump will be seated inside National Cathedral paying his respects to former President George H.W. Bush — a man who, according to one prominent columnist, cursed him out, and threw his shoe at the television upon the mere sight of him.

Appearing on Morning Joe Wednesday, New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd claimed that, when she interviewed him, the former president didn’t mince words about the current Commander-in-Chief.

“I asked him ‘What do you think of this Trump birther thing?'” Dowd said — describing a conversation she’d had with Bush during the 2016 Republican primary. “And he just said…am I allowed to say that word on air?… He said, you know, in essence, he’s a jerk — with a different word.”

Dowd added that Bush — who has been described as genteel by many who have reflected upon his life and legacy this week — actually was moved to some pretty demonstrative reactions upon the mere sight of Donald Trump.

“I heard later that he was throwing a shoe at the television set when Trump came on,” Dowd said.
