Mika Brzezinski Slams Ivanka Trump For Congratulating Her Father on Immigration Executive Order: ‘Shameful’

First Daughter Ivanka Trump spoke out about children being separated from their families at the border for the first time Wednesday after her father, President Donald Trump, signed an executive order effectively ending the practice.

Problem is, she didn’t acknowledge her father’s role in implementing the practice in the first place, an oversight Morning Joe‘s Mika Brzezinski did not forgive.

“This is not honest and shameful,” Brzezinski tweeted simply.

In case you need a refresher about why it’s not honest: The “zero tolerance” policy of separating children and parents at the border was instated by Attorney General Jeff Sessions; family separation was never done as a matter of course in previous administrations. The policy was meant to deter families from crossing the border illegally and was deliberately punitive.

President Trump and his administration were instrumental in the execution of this policy, blaming, in turns, the Democrats, the law, and the Bible. They even held at one point that the policy didn’t exist.

Comedian Kathy Griffin had an even more vehement reaction to the whitewashing tweet:

Patting Daddy on the back for ending something he started… Not the best look, Ivanka.
