NYDN’s Shaun King Calls Black Sportswriter ‘Coon,’ Uncle Tom in Twitter Feud

Shaun KingA disagreement this week between New York Daily News columnist Shaun King and Fox Sports’ Jason Whitlock over King’s coverage of the Peyton Manning scandal culminated in a nasty racial Twitter battle.

Whitlock got the ball rolling by criticizing King after he wrote a Saturday article detailing how Manning allegedly sexually harassed a trainer while at the University of Tennessee. King wasn’t a journalist, Whitlock claimed on The Dan Patrick Show, but “a race hustler from Twitter, from the Black Lives Matter movement who stirs racial controversy to elevate himself.”

Whitlock listed off a laundry list of allegations made by King’s conservative critics: “First of all, he’s white and presenting himself as black. He said that as a child in high school he was allegedly attacked by a group of white people because he was black. Well, he wasn’t black and there were people saying that wasn’t why he was attacked and there’s no proof of it.”

King responded to Whitlock’s criticism on Twitter, accusing him of “cooning” for money and calling him a “Tom ass bastard.”

Whitlock gave as good as he got, calling King a white man pretending to be black.

Later, he tweeted that he had invited King to discuss their beef on the radio, but King backed out.
