Robin Williams‘ death last night has inspired much emotional conversation about depression and suicide. However, one British broadcaster actually said on the air he has “no sympathy” for Williams after he took his own life.
TalkSport’s Alan Brazil said this morning, “I don’t have a lot of sympathy…. That’s the way I feel, I’m sorry. I think what you leave behind is diabolical.”
That obviously didn’t go over well:
You're not a doctor @alanbrazil so your opinion on mental health issues counts for nothing to be fair.

An opinion on a factual illness isn't an opinion. It's called ignorance. I can have an opinion that the world is flat.

Will never listen to Alan Brazil again after hearing his ignorant, uneducated views on depression and suicide. Disgraceful.

Alan Brazil is an awful human being. How he could ever say such a thing only hours after the man died shows how little class he has.

Alan Brazil's Robin Williams comments are what happens when a talentless wanker is given a platform after a talented genius dies.

But Brazil has already made it clear he’s not backing down:
Well done @StanCollymore for retweeting comments about me. I stand by what I said today. The sympathy I do have is for RW's family & friends
— Alan Brazil (@alanbrazil) August 12, 2014
@StanCollymore has his opinion and I'm entitled to mine
— Alan Brazil (@alanbrazil) August 12, 2014
Meanwhile, TalkSport has already apologized for what Brazil said.
