Steve Bannon Reportedly Prepared to Resign From the White House Over 10 Days Ago
As the news continues to break about Steve Bannon‘s imminent departure from the White House, a new report states that the strategic adviser’s exodus has been underway for almost two weeks.
New York Times reports that Bannon tendered to his resignation back on August 7. The announcement was supposed to happen earlier this week, but it got put on hold following the chaotic events of Charlottesville and the following blowback to the Trump Administration.
From the Times:
“The president and senior White House officials were debating when and how to dismiss Mr. Bannon. The two administration officials cautioned that Mr. Trump is known to be averse to confrontation within his inner circle, and could decide to keep on Mr. Bannon for some time.
As of Friday morning, the two men were still discussing Mr. Bannon’s future, the officials said. A person close to Mr. Bannon insisted the parting of ways was his idea.”
Bannon’s future at the White House came up on Tuesday during President Trump’s controversial press conference on Charlottesville. Trump defended Bannon as a “friend” who was “not a racist,” but he also said “we’ll see what happens” in terms of Bannon’s future in the administration.
Bannon confirmed the Times’ reporting with Circa’s Sara Carter:

It’s unclear what will happen to Bannon now, but if Matt Drudge happens to know something, there’s a strong probability that he’ll return to Breitbart.
