The View Calls Out Trump For Trying to Compare Samantha Bee to Roseanne: ‘Racism is a Completely Different Beast’
The panel of The View was just the latest to take aim at Samantha Bee for calling Ivanka Trump a “feckless cunt” on her Wednesday show, but also at President Donald Trump for condemning Bee and not Roseanne Barr, who called former Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett what you’d get “if the Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes had a baby.”
“Is this as bad as Roseanne’s tweet?” Joy Behar asked the panel.
“No,” Sara Haines said strongly. “You have to separate out racism. Racism is a completely separate beast.”
“I think the joke was inappropriate. I didn’t think it was funny… Especially women using that against women… but it was not racism.”
“I don’t think she meant to be funny,” Behar said.
“The network has apologized for it, you know, Samantha Bee has apologized for it, and we’re talking now about Samantha Bee, but we’re not talking about Roseanne’s racist comments about Valerie Jarrett, and the president has yet to come out and condemn those comments. That’s what we should be talking about,” Sunny Hostin said. “He comes out against Colin Kaepernick. He comes out against Starbucks because they ban the Christmas cup. Why hasn’t he come out about… what happened to the two black men? What about that?”
“He wants to talk about everything but the actual racism that’s going on in our country with African-American men,” Hostin added.
