Trump Claims ‘Very Rude Elevator Screamers’ Protesting Kavanaugh Are Actors ‘Paid by Soros’

President Donald Trump called progressive activists — many of which are women and sexual assault survivors — protesting the Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh “very rude elevator screamers” and claimed that they are actors paid by liberal billionaire George Soros.

“The very rude elevator screamers are paid professionals only looking to make Senators look bad. Don’t fall for it!” Trump tweeted this morning. “Also, look at all of the professionally made identical signs. Paid for by Soros and others. These are not signs made in the basement from love!”

The president concluded the tweet with the hashtag “#Troublemakers.”

Since Kavanaugher’s accuser Christine Blasey Ford came forward last month, progressive activists have held numerous demonstrations inside Senate buildings and around Capitol Hill. The protests that have gained the most media attention involve activists trapping Republican senators in elevators and questioning them about their vote on Kavanaugh.

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ), who claims to still be undecided on his vote, was confronted in an elevator last week. One activist, who is a survivor of sexual assault, accused the lawmaker of telling “women that they don’t matter, that they should just stay quiet because if they tell you what happened to them you are going to ignore them.”

After the confrontation, Flake announced that he needed an FBI investigation into the Kavanaugh allegations before he could decide his vote.
