Trump Issues Statement on Ending DACA: ‘Time for Congress to Act!’

President Donald Trump has issued a statement following Attorney General Jeff Sessions making the administration announcement about ending DACA.

“I do not favor punishing children, most of whom are now adults,” the President says, “for the actions of their parents. But we must also recognize that we are a nation of opportunity because we are a nation of laws.”

Trump explains that DHS will be carrying out an “orderly transition and wind-down of DACA, one that provides minimum disruption.”

However, the delay is in effect so that there is a “window of opportunity for Congress to finally act.”

“I look forward to working with Republicans and Democrats in Congress,” the President continues, “to finally address all of these issues in a manner that puts the hardworking citizens of our country first.”

He concludes, “It is now time for Congress to act!”
