Trump Rails Against ‘Crazy’ Maxine Waters, Dems: ‘How Can They Win’ Midterms When They’re ‘Ripping Apart’ ICE?

President Donald Trump is working hard to win back the narrative on immigration, using calls to abolish ICE to accuse Democrats of disrespecting U.S. law enforcement.

Since the Trump administration’s policy of separating child migrants from their families at the Southern Border caused a public outcry, calls to abolish ICE have grown popular amongst Democratic lawmakers, including Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris.

Trump and his allies have used those calls to claim that Democrats are tarnishing ICE agents themselves, and the president took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to preview the political angle he’s pushing ahead of the November midterm elections.

“When we have an ‘infestation’ of MS-13 GANGS in certain parts of our country, who do we send to get them out? ICE!” he wrote. “They are tougher and smarter than these rough criminal elelments [sic] that bad immigration laws allow into our country. Dems do not appreciate the great job they do! Nov.”

Trump then asked how Democrats “can do well in November” given they are, according to him, “weak on the Border and weak on Crime.”

“The people of our Country want and demand Safety and Security, while the Democrats are more interested in ripping apart and demeaning (and not properly funding) our great Law Enforcement!” he added.

Trump also made sure to take a shot at Rep. Maxine Waters in his tweets, who has been the subject of death threats since she called for the harassment of Trump officials.
