Trump Reacts to Memos: Comey ‘Can Leak and Lie’ While Flynn’s Life is ‘Totally Destroyed’

President Donald Trump bemoaned the treatment of his former national security adviser Michael Flynn — while bashing James Comey’s book — in a fairly existential early morning tweet on Friday.

“So General Michael Flynn’s life can be totally destroyed while Shadey James Comey can Leak and Lie and make lots of money from a third rate book (that should never have been written),” Trump wrote. “Is that really the way life in America is supposed to work? I don’t think so!”

Flynn was fired last year, after serving a few weeks in the administration, allegedly because he misled the White House about his contacts with Russian officials.

The retired lieutenant general would go on to plead guilty to lying to the FBI about those contacts, and began cooperating with special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia.

Comey, meanwhile, is currently on the tail-end of his media blitz to promote his new book, A Higher Loyalty, in which he details his interactions with Trump. Congress released on Thursday night 15 pages of Comey’s memos detailing those meetings.

Trump reacted to the memos late Friday, arguing that they prove he did not collude with Russia:
