Twitter Points and Laughs at Trump’s ‘Smocking Gun’ Gaffe: ‘Not a Typo, He Did it Twice’
As is his wont of late, President Donald Trump started his day by tweeting undermining attacks on Special Counsel Robert Mueller and the former FBI Director James Comey. Unfortunately for the Commander in Chief, most of the attention on Twitter was focused on his odd misspelling of the word “smoking.”
“Democrats can’t find a “Smocking Gun,” he opened the tweet, which he later followed with “No Smocking Gun.”
This is the not the first time President Trump has misspelled “smoking.” In a now deleted tweeted in August of 2018, he made the same mistake:
As is often the case in such public gaffes, Twitter has had something of a field day with the misspelling. Below are some jokes collected for your reading pleasure:
He can’t spell smoking.
Not a typo, he did it twice.

I’m so confused. Not once but twice he said “smocking gun.” I’m being dead serious. How does that happen? https://t.co/hgVDGXWIGT

I’m curious about this Smocking Gun. Is that related to the Red Hearing? https://t.co/uDvADJsTBB

And yes, even I made a joke, shamelessly sharing here:
Aide: “Mr. President, do you want to delete and retweet that?
Trump: “What? Why?”
Aide: “There is a typo. It’s SMOKING, not SMOCKING”
Trump: “Fuck it. It doesn’t matter.”

Not EVERYONE on Twitter was ridiculing the President’s apparent inability to spell “smoking.” The son of former NSA Michael Flynn opined:
The #FakeNewsMedia will work overtime today to interpret/read into/make fun of tweet below
All the while discussing RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA.
Know who is absolutely sick of that narrative?
