Twitter Users Wonder if Time Named Trump Person of the Year in Homage to Hitler
A few days ago, the New York Times quietly slid the word “timely” into a description of a book about Adolf Hitler‘s rise, leading to speculation that they were implying President-elect Donald Trump could be the next Hitler. Today, Time named Trump their Person of the Year…
…just like they did with Hitler in 1938.
You know who else was Person of the Year?

Ya’ll remember 1938 when hitler was Time’s man of the year?

That didn’t go unnoticed. In fact, some have suggested that this was a very intentional comparison.
When you realize @TIME is paying homage to hitler…@summerbrennan pic.twitter.com/y0a9LK4VWz

(whispers)
they make the President-Elect Time Person of the Year literally every 4 years
(keeps whispering)
also they gave it to Hitler once— Rodger Sherman (@rodger_sherman) December 7, 2016
Within the article, there were references to the neo-Nazis who have rallied around the President-elect.
@GPKNIGHT @oufenix @TIME @summerbrennan is actually a pretty damning article. Bravo @Time ? pic.twitter.com/jxEVpfgXBS

I hear Time ripped Trump in their “Person of the Year” article. Of course, it’s Time Magazine. Doesn’t matter, we still got the cover. :-)

It could be argued that the speculation fulfilled Godwin’s Law or that Time itself fulfilled it. Still, there are more theories to consider than Trump-as-Hitler. How about Trump-as-Devil?
I mean. This is just some terrifying but phenomenal typographic design @TIME #personoftheyear #hellmouth pic.twitter.com/KkRBoEz1Gc

At this point, the Person of the Year should just be Satan

Can’t please them all.
