The day Jesus was said to be baptized is a sacred day in the Orthodox Christian faith. On this sacred day, Russian president Vladimir Putin had the urge to grace us all with the indelible image of his bare torso as he took an icy dip in Lake Seliger in northwestern Russia.
During the week of Epiphany, believers claim that water blessed by a priest is holy and has healing properties. Perhaps yearning to be healed, the bear-riding man of legend dunked his head in the frigid waters and crossed himself, according to an AP report. The president has reportedly bathed in icy waters on Epiphany before, but this is the first time he’s done it in public.
And what a joy it is for us common people, who thirst always to see the chest of this 65-year-old Russian autocrat. Thank you, Vladimir Putin. Definitely don’t put on a shirt for the rest of forever.
