Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will lead the on-camera press briefing Wednesday, the same day that President Donald Trump signed the Russian sanctions legislation and announced new regulations on legal immigration.
Watch live above, scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. EST.
Earlier Wednesday, Trump signed the Russian sanctions bill that will give Congress new powers to block Trump from easing sanctions against Moscow. It will also impose new sanctions against Russia over its meddling in last year’s election.
The bill passed the Senate last week 98-2 before being sent to the president’s desk. Trump has been supportive of the bill, saying he wants to be tough on Russia.
Also Wednesday, Trump gave a press conference announcing his new legislation on cutting the amount of legal immigrants coming into the country in half. The plan, put together by Senators Tom Cotton and David Perdue, hopes to get rid of the Visa lottery and instead pick immigrants based off their skills. The reform hopes to cut immigration from 637,960 in its first year and to 539,958 by its tenth year.
Another issue that might come up is the lawsuit that was filed yesterday that said the White House had overseen the investigation into the conspiracy theory that declared DNC staffer Seth Rich was actually murdered because he leaked to Wikileaks. Sanders said yesterday that the allegations were untrue.
Sanders might also be questioned on who is going to be the new communications director, after the sudden departure of Anthony Scaramucci after being in the position for 10 days, as there are already rumors.
