A hot mic in the House Chamber caught a Democrat screaming at Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) because Lawler was on the Democrats’ side of the floor.
In the clip, members of the House can be seen talking amongst themselves after they just finished voting on a resolution. Roughly 10 seconds into the video, one voice suddenly rose about the cacophony of chatter.
“Fucking get over there and get some fucking balls!” the man said to Lawler off-screen. “Tell them! Tell them! You know who I am!”
Although the microphone was quickly shut off, muffled shouting could still be heard. Members of the House all looked in their direction in unison as an awkward silence hung over the chamber.
In a tweet posted after the altercation, Lawler confirmed that the Democrat in question was NY Rep. John Mannion.
“John Mannion was entirely unhinged and unprofessional,” Lawler said. “That was a shameful display that exposed his complete lack of temperament. No wonder numerous staffers have previously alleged a toxic work environment. He should go seek help for anger management — and fuck off.”
At the time of this writing, neither Mannion nor his office had commented on the incident.
