‘He Is an Assh*le’: Gavin Newsom Keeps Joe Rogan Feud Alive With Foul-Mouthed Remark

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) poured fresh gasoline on his feud with Joe Rogan this week with a not-so-nice claim about the podcaster: “He is an assh*le.”

Newsom took the shot at Rogan on his own podcast on Monday, chiming in after his guest Michael Fanone — a former Washington, D.C., metro cop — said he didn’t understand how the Democrats have been unable to”combat” macho guys like Rogan, who also announces for the UFC beyond his podcasting and stand-up comic jobs.

“You don’t need the Joe Rogan of the left. F*ck Joe Rogan, that guy is an assh*le,” Fanone fumed.

“He is an asshole,” Newsom agreed. “Thank you.”

“He is a complete and f*cking utter clown,” Fanone went on.

Fanone then admitted he’s “never really watched” Rogan’s show, but he had “watched enough of it to see it’s like you’re watching the biggest dumbass work through questions and problems in real time with other weird f*cking dumbasses. But somehow the mechanics of that resonates with people.”

Newsom smirked and chuckled as Fanone went off.

They got onto the topic following Newsom saying the Democratic Party needed to do a better job on “issues around masculinity.” The governor asked Fanone what he made of the “hyper” masculinity on display from many right-leaning voices in the media, which ultimately led to the two bashing Rogan.

Newsom branded Rogan an “assh*le” after he has complained the podcaster is “too chicken” to have him on his top-ranked show. Rogan has bashed Newsom plenty of times in the past as well, spanning from the governor’s Covid-19 policies to California’s homeless crisis. But he said in October 2025 he was willing at one point to have Newsom on his podcast, until the governor kept ripping him on social media.

“This is such a bad strategy. Like I probably would have had him on, but now I’m like ‘No, what are you doing?’” Rogan said.
