Joe Rogan Nukes ‘Hot’ Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for ‘Woke 1 Was Crazy’ Claim: ‘How Did It Get You?’

Joe Rogan lambasted Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for dismissing concerns about people taking unpopular hard-left stances by claiming “Woke 1 was crazy,” with Rogan saying AOC needs to do more than just shrug it off — she needs to explain why her own views changed.

The veteran comic went off on AOC during his Friday podcast. He started off by saying the liberal lawmaker has been looking “hot” in her recent videos where she talks about freezing her eggs, before quickly pivoting to bashing her for her viral “Woke 1” remark.

“[It] makes me think that you’re willing to change your opinions based on public reaction. I don’t like that,” Rogan vented. “Because if you really thought ‘defund the police,’ and then you just [ascribed] it to ‘Woke 1 was crazy,’ well how did it get you? Because it didn’t get me. How did it get you?”

Rogan continued:

Give me your thoughts. How far out did you track the consequences of defunding the police? Because I immediately went to, you’re going to have more crime because no one is going to be able to stop teh crime. IT’s going to get scary and ten you’re going to want more police and saying ‘defund the police’ is just going to make more police and more control and more totalitarian government.

Like, what did you think defund the police meant? Everyone is gonna like eat mushrooms and we’re gonna be flower children?

He shared his take a few weeks after AOC said ‘Woke 1 was crazy” during an interview with ABC’s Jonathan Karl. Ocasio-Cortez made it while cutting some slack for Francesca Hong, the democratic socialist candidate for Wisconsin governor who called for canceling Thanksgiving, because Covid-19 lockdowns made everyone a bit kooky and willing to humor extreme ideas.

“During this time, and especially during Covid, there was a huge opening of the Overton window… and I think the doors were really opened in trying to entertain any and every policy that was going to get us to a better place,” she said. ”And I actually think the discussions that were had in that time were quite fruitful.”

AOC added, “During lockdown, of course, rhetoric in that time is not rhetoric we would use today.”

Still, AOC advocated for some extreme ideas before the pandemic, like when she said it was time to have a “real conversation” about abolishing prisons in 2019 — a year before she started calling for defunding the cops.

Rogan said it seemed like AOC had only changed her tune after licking her finger and sticking it up to the wind, which helped her realize most Americans believed defunding the police was  “f*cking crazy.” He said she owes it to voters to explain her 180.

“If you want us to take you seriously, you have to say how you f*cked up,” Rogan said.
