Lauren Boebert Backs Matt Gaetz to Lead Jeffrey Epstein Special Counsel: ‘I Want Answers’

The Benny Show
Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) suggested on Tuesday that former congressman Matt Gaetz should be appointed as special counsel to investigate documents related to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Reacting on The Benny Show to the growing outrage among supporters of President Donald Trump over the Trump administration’s handling of the Epstein files, Boebert said:
Of course we want answers. No one is satisfied with what has been received or lack thereof. No one is satisfied with the rollout of this. Of course, we’ve heard that Dan Bongino is not satisfied with the rollout of this either and, you know, I mean, I think you hear time and time again what an honorable, stand-up man Dan Bongino is. President Trump, he obviously thinks highly of Attorney General Pam Bondi. I don’t know her personally, but I know Dan, and he’s a wonderful man and I have no reason to doubt him, and I think moving forward, we need a special counsel. That has got to happen. There has to be a special investigation into this if we aren’t going to be provided information.
The congresswoman then proposed, “This is certainly important and I want answers, and maybe that takes that special counsel to do so. Maybe Matt Gaetz can lead the special counsel.”
Asked whether she would vote in favor of Gaetz being appointed special counsel, Boebert replied, “Absolutely. Yes. You know, Matt has spoke highly of Pam Bondi in saying, you know, that she’s the best attorney general that President Trump has had, but yes. Matt Gaetz as special counsel, absolutely.”
Gaetz resigned from Congress in November 2024 after Trump nominated him to serve as U.S. attorney general. However, amid accusations of sexual misconduct, Gaetz withdrew himself from the nomination just one week later after it reportedly became clear he would not have enough votes to be confirmed in the Senate.
“I greatly appreciate the recent efforts of Matt Gaetz in seeking approval to be Attorney General,” wrote Trump in a statement at the time. “He was doing very well, but at the same time, did not want to be a distraction for the Administration, for which he has much respect. Matt has a wonderful future, and I look forward to watching all of the great things he will do!”
Gaetz currently hosts The Matt Gaetz Show on One America News, where he has interviewed a number of former colleagues, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), and Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN).
