Melania Returns to White House for Christmas After Trump’s ‘All Alone (Poor Me)’ Tweet
First Lady Melania Trump returned to the White House from Mar-a-Lago on Monday after President Donald Trump lamented he was left alone in the White House for the holiday.
“I am all alone (poor me) in the White House waiting for the Democrats to come back and make a deal on desperately needed Border Security,” Trump wrote during a prolific day of tweeting. “At some point the Democrats not wanting to make a deal will cost our Country more money than the Border Wall we are all talking about. Crazy!”
Trump also took great pains to show he was working on the holiday, tweeting out a picture of himself working in the Oval Office and a second tweet talking about giving out a contract for his border wall in Texas.
On Friday, Mrs. Trump traveled to Mar-a-Lago to spend the holiday with her son, Barron, noting it was her family’s custom. However, their planned 16-day holiday got cut short when the president announced he would not be traveling to Florida.
“Due to the shutdown, President Trump will remain in Washington, D.C. and the First Lady will return from Florida so they can spend Christmas together,” White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement.
On Monday afternoon, FLOTUS was spotted boarding the plane for the flight back to Washington, shortly after Trump’s “poor me” tweet.
Mrs. Trump will also spend part of her Christmas Eve taking calls for NORAD. It is unclear if she will return to Mar-a-Lago after Christmas Day.
