Trump Rails Against Peter Strzok After FBI Agent Removed from Russian Probe Says He’s Willing to Testify to Congress

President Donald Trump was in an ornery mood on Twitter Sunday night, using the social media platform to rail against “enemy of the people” fake news media and slam FBI agent Peter Strzok.

On Sunday, The Washington Post reported the Strzok, who was removed from the Mueller probe after his anti-Trump text messages surfaced, said he was willing to testify before Congress.

WaPo reports:

Peter Strzok, who was singled out in a recent Justice Department inspector general report for the politically charged messages, would be willing to testify without immunity, and he would not invoke his Fifth Amendment rights in response to any question, his attorney, Aitan Goelman, said in an interview Sunday. Strzok has become a special target of President Trump, who has used the texts to question the Russia investigation.

Goelman said Strzok “wants the chance to clear his name and tell his story.”

“He thinks that his position, character and actions have all been misrepresented and caricatured, and he wants an opportunity to remedy that,” the lawyer said.

Strzok is also willing to testify voluntarily,  according to the letter which made the rounds of the media Sunday evening.

While Trump did not mention the WaPo report by name or talk about his willingness to testify, after the report was published and the news started to spread on the internet, Trump railed against the “fake news media” in his four-part tweetstorm.

He claimed, in part, “Why was the FBI giving so much information to the Fake News Media. They are not supposed to be doing that, and knowing the enemy of the people Fake News, they put their own spin on it – truth doesn’t matter to them!”

Then he went off on “sick loser” Strzok who he accused of “giving Crooked Hillary a free pass.”

In the aftermath of the tweetstorm, Axios also noted that Trump did not have all the facts right, writing, “The DOJ report found that Strzok’s biases didn’t impact the Clinton investigation.”
